Required Reading

All required summer reading books will be available from www.varsitybooks.com after June 1, 2008. If you have any difficulty obtaining these titles, call Sue Clayton in the Business Office at (410) 263-9231, ext. 1262.

Read THREE books and answer the Guiding Questions for each one. Click here for the Guiding Questions.

To help you organize your thoughts, the Learning Department has created Pre-Writing Organizers (click here) that you can use to help answer each of the guiding questions.

Fifth graders MUST read:

Plus ONE Realistic Fiction book of your choice

The book you choose must be one you have never read before. Be prepared to discuss your book and to provide a short review of it when you return to school in the fall.Click here for a list of realistic fiction titles. Students may choose other titles.

In addition to reading the required titles listed above, all students are encouraged to read several previously unread titles from the following list.
