Participants – Annapolis Book Festival 2009

The Annapolis Book Festival will take place
April 18, 2009, at Key School.

Submission Guidelines

Publicists, editors or authors may submit individual author materials. Participants are selected and programs are coordinated by various ABF Program Committees. We anticipate that there will be four types of venues in which authors may be invited to participate. We will ask a few authors to make solo presentations; some may be grouped into panels by themes that ABF committees deem appropriate (for example, we have had mystery, science and science fiction, as well as topics such as the war in Iraq or the upcoming presidential election); other authors may present small group workshops or demonstrations (for example, a cooking demo, or a travel writing workshop); and finally, many authors will be publicized and scheduled to be available for book signings at a central location.

Submission Deadlines

For solo or potential panel presentations:

October 1, 2008

For workshop or demonstrations:

December 1, 2008

For scheduled book signing:

January 15, 2009

The ABF features authors of national scope with books published (or issued in paperback) within the last two years. Self-published books are rarely selected. We feature fiction, non-fiction and children’s authors. To be considered, please submit the following:

  1. Authors (publicists or editors) should send the following to the address at the bottom of this application:
    • two copies of the book(s) you would like featured
    • any additional press materials your book has received from the publisher or newspaper/magazine/web coverage (optional)
    • headshot photo; include a glossy or you may email it in digital format to bookfestival@keyschool.org
    • completed ABF Information Sheet (including address, fax, phone, email, and 40-word biography) Download Author Information Sheet
  2. Our Program Committee convenes to consider all submitted materials. Since this process takes several months, the earlier materials are submitted the more exposure they will have to the committee. ABF will begin to contact authors who will be featured in the fourth quarter of 2008. It is our hope to contact all authors as soon as the Program Committee has decided whether or not to feature their books. The process can be protracted. Feel free to contact ABF (410-263-9231) or email dcrnkovic@keyschool.org to make inquiries on the status of a potential program.
  3. The ABF is a free community event put on by The Key School, a non-profit independent school, and does not provide honoraria for its participants.
  4. No materials will be returned.
